It’s good to be back

October 23, 2007 (evening)

I finally took the plunge and hacked my iPhone 1.1.1 firmware.  What an ordeal!  The proceedure took close to an hour using iFuntastic 4.6.1.  Another hour later and I’ve perused the latest releases in Installer.app and installed a couple dozen packages.

There are quite a few new packages to be explored.  Some of my favorites are:

Nikotalkie- voice messaging over EDGE & WiFi

Labyrinth- an awesome iPhone rendition of the classic marble game

CrossWalk- NYC cross street calculator & subway map viewr

All in all, not a bad way to spend an evening.

Awesome! Havn’t got the iphone YET but am still waiting for umm, the “right time.” (AKA-When I have some money) but I am glad you got it working. I heard about the new Installer app and it seems very cool. I also see you installed springboard? Is that it or is is summerboard. Just wondering! ~CC

That’s not “summerboard” that you see.  The native springboard now is able to accommodate multiple screens of icons.  The dots indicate which screen you are on.
