Just in time for MacWorld- iPhone trojan revealed

It’s about time.  An iPhone Trojan has been unveiled.  The mastermind- an 11-year-old kid.

But seriously, the first Trojan attack is going by the name of “113 prep.” Once launched, the app displays “shoes,” then causes damage to or deletes system-critical files in the /bin directory on the iPhone.

Update: Now noted by both F-Secure and Symantec.

Looky here

Good to know that our NYC taxis are powered by these great Windows- based navigation systems.  Maybe those cabbies should have stuck to their guns while striking last year.

All I can say is- good thing the navigation system isn’t driving the cabs -yet-

MacOSX filesystem usage

To see realtime filesystem usage in MacOSX:

fs_usage

Also useful for checking what exactly an app is doing:

fs_usage -w -f filesys | grep AppName

DRM in deathgrip?

Today, BusinessWeek is reporting that Sony BMG has agreed to offer music for sale without DRM.  Of course it was only last week when Warner added DRM-free tunes to Amazon’s MP3 store.

The music should be available for Amazon’s 1 billion song MP3 Superbowl promo with Pepsi.

No more rootkits, I suppose.
